PuppetIntegrate Seminar with Workshops in Poznań

International Seminar “Puppet Theatre for Integration in Education” was held at the Faculty of Educational Studies of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań (AMU, Poland), concerning the use of theatre puppets in education. The seminar was the introductory part of the “Puppet INTEGRATE” project. The Seminar Agenda and the detailed description of the event is available at the Faculty of Educational Studies website.

There were nearly forty teachers and specialists (pedagogues, therapists, speech therapists, psychologists) attending the meeting, who represented twelve different institutions (primary and general schools, educational centres and a social support institution) and nine people responsible for organising the event from Faculty of Educational Studies (AMU). The main part of the seminar consisted of two workshops conducted by Εmmanouela Kapokaki – founder and leader of the Visual Puppet Theater “Prasein Aloga” (Greece). The workshops were conducted in English. During the first part of the workshop (“Construction of a simple puppet, animation”), the participants gained knowledge on how to prepare a puppet (shape, decorate and add individual figure). The second part of the workshop (“Improvisations with puppets”) was devoted to the issue of moving (holding by actor, movement, contact with
the audience) and expressing emotions (e.g sadness, angriness, joy) during improvisation with puppets.
The participants were informed about the course of the project and the individual tasks they would be required to perform at its subsequent stages. There was also an introduction of the coordinators from the AMU assigned to the participating institutions, who will support them during the project.
The training seminar, as well as the workshop leader herself, gathered a lot of positive feedback rom teachers and specialists. We are all waiting for further project development!
